This publication provides an analysis on different policies used by governments around the World to encourage the use of Autogas.

This study covers 25 of the world’s largest Autogas markets, 15 of them in Europe, taking into account local conditions and regulations. In addition to Great Britain, France, Germany, Spain and others Еuropean countries, the report is also presenting Bulgaria, noting that the demand for autogas in our market is growing. Since the 90s, propane-butane-driven vehicles have increased by more than 50% to reach 505,000 in 2017. The main actions the Bulgarian government is undertaking to stimulate the use of Autogas are related to lower the rate of excise tax relative to other fuel, stated the report.

Based on compiled historical data and information on tax and non-tax policies, this report also aims to asses which types of policies will be more effective in the future and why.

Autogas is the most used alternative fuel in the transportation sector all over the world. The main reason why several governments encourage the use of Autogas is because of its low emissions and low impact on the environment in comparison to diesel and gasoline. As the report shows, the most effective Autogas incentive policies are those that make the fuel more competitive against gasoline and diesel and give a strong financial incentive for consumers to switch to Autogas.
