Romania Increases the Incentives for Clean Fuel Vehicles

The Romanian Government will increase the car scrappage bonus by 15% and it will reach €1,500 (7,500 RON), announced the Minister of Environment Barna Tanczos. He also mentioned that buyers of alternative fuel vehicles will receive an additional incentive.

We have two eco-bonuses that come on the top of the car scrappage bonus and support those who buy green cars. Тhe eco bonus increases from RON 2,500 to RON 3,000 (600 EUR). In the case of cars with CNG or LPG systems, the eco-bonus is increased from 1,000 RON to 1,500 (300 EUR)“, explained the Minister of Environment. The total budget for this scrappage programme (Programul Rabla Clasic) will increase to 440 million RON (90 million EUR), and in 2020 it was approximately 405 million RON, covering between 55,000 and 60,000 beneficiaries, according to Barna Tanczos.

Meanwhile, the budget of the Rabla Plus program, which finances those who buy hybrid and electric cars, will double to 400 million RON (82 million euros) this year. The program offers 10,000 euros bonuses for those who buy all-electric cars and 4,500 euros for those who buy hybrids with supplements. The environment minister expects more than 10,000 beneficiaries this year.

Both schemes – Rabla Clasic and Rabla Plus – will start in the last week of April.
