Spring is the best season for rearranging and refreshing your home. Although we usually follow the holiday calendar and take care of cleaning before Easter, the ideal time for this endeavor is after the celebrations. So now is the time to roll up your sleeves and tidy up your home by following these easy tips.
- Be prepared
Stock up on everything you need before you start, namely:
- Rubber gloves
- Microfiber cloths, wet wipes (for electronics), and other suitable materials for dry and wet cleaning
- All-purpose cleaner (preferably one that is environmentally friendly)
- Brush with handle for walls and floors and small brush for hard-to-reach places
- Spatula
- Garbage bags
- First, bring order to the chaos
Organizing will make cleaning faster and more efficient.
- Organize closets and wardrobes
- Arrange your “work” space, where you will place your tools of the trade.
- Clear out your closets and wardrobes of unnecessary items
- Always clean from top to bottom
When cleaning the entire house, start from the top floor (if it has several floors) and work your way down to avoid transferring dirt from one floor to another. When cleaning a room, start by removing cobwebs and dirt from the ceiling and upper part of the walls. Then clean the ceiling fan and light fixtures, window frames, and walls. Finish with the furniture, thresholds, and floor. This way, you save yourself from having to go over the same areas again with a rag.
- Keep up with the times
Plan your cleaning time effectively to reduce it. Remember to apply cleaning products at the beginning (unless a shorter application time is specified on the label). This way, while you are performing other tasks, the products will have time to work effectively. This will make cleaning much easier.
- No forget about protective equipment
Remember that there are a number of almost imperceptible risks lurking everywhere while you clean. Familiarize yourself with the contents and methods of use of the products you use, as they may contain acids, bleach, and small particles that irritate the eyes, skin, nose, and even the lungs. It is recommended that you wear protective gloves and goggles, and why not a mask as well. To protect your hands from dirt, you can apply cosmetic petroleum jelly under your gloves.
If you want to do something else beneficial for your home, switch to a domestic gas installation. Using propane-butane for household needs is easy, economical, and environmentally friendly. Learn more here.
