Cooking with propane-butane is easier and faster than with a regular electric stove. However, when using it there are several basic rules that you must follow when cooking with it. which you must follow in order to in order to make the most of your energy as efficiently and economically as possible. Here are some useful tips for using your your gas stove appropriately.
Cook at the correct temperature. It is not necessary always to “turn up” the stove to the maximum, in order to heat up something. Instead of this, try to use only as much heat as much as necessary, to reheat or prepare your food. Anything that exceeds the minimum required temperature will be waste and accordingly will increase unnecessarily the consumption of propane-butane.
- Water, for example, boils at 100 °C (212 °F). Once it has boiled, it will not get any hotter if you leave it on the stove—you will just use more propane-butane.
- When cooking according to a recipe, always follow the instructions for temperature. Most recipes specify what level of heat to a use (“low”, “medium”, “medium-high”, “high”, etc.).
Make sure that the pot or pan completely covers the flames. If you see flames coming out of the pot, it means that the stove is set to too high a temperature. Reduce it until the flames are limited to the bottom surface of the pot. Otherwise, you are generating unnecessary extra heat. Keep an eye on the flame – it should always be blue.
Keep the burners on your stove always clean to ensure they work properly. To clean the burners, first make sure they are turned off and cool to the touch. Then remove the protective grates and wipe away any debris with a damp cloth. Finally, scrub the area around the burners with soapy water until it is completely clean.
Use high-quality cookware. Materials such as copper and stainless steel are extremely practical because they help heat up faster and distribute energy evenly. Cast iron and ceramic also help retain heat longer, which means you won’t have to leave the stove on to keep your cooked meals warm.
Prepare everything you need for cooking in advance. Before turning on the stove, make sure everything is chopped, peeled, thawed, seasoned, marinated, etc. This way, you won’t use extra propane while you finish preparing other dishes.
