Why should gas cylinders always be kept upright?
Gas cylinders must be used and stored in an upright position for safety reasons.
All gas cylinders for home and for barbecue are equipped with safety valves, which are a designed for safe release of gas in case that the gas cylinder becomes hot and the pressure is too high.
The safety valves are located at the top of the cylinder. Inside the cylinder, the propane-butane is in a liquid state at the bottom of the cylinder and in the form of gas vapour at the top. Keeping the cylinder upright ensures that the safety valve is not submerged in the liquid and is located in the vapour space.
