Propane-butane (LPG) is a popular energy source thanks to its many advantages – autonomous, safe, and economical energy supply that can be used even in places where there is no electricity supply.

Here are a few more interesting facts about LPG that you may not know.

  1. Explosions caused by propane-butane are rare and are mostly used for effects in movies.

Even deliberately, it is extremely difficult to cause an explosion with a propane-butane cylinder. Gas explosions are usually the result of gas leakage in a confined space. However, we advise you to ALWAYS follow the safety rules during operation.

  1. Propane-butane is a renewable source of energy.

Propane-butane has transitioned from a traditional fossil fuel to a new form of renewable energy. Scientists have created a genetically modified version of the common E. coli bacterium that produces propane (LPG). In addition, butane and propane are non-toxic gases that burn quietly without emitting any odor.

  1. In addition to being environmentally friendly, propane-butane is also economical.

The price of autogas is significantly lower than that of gasoline, and its distribution network in Bulgaria and Europe is well developed. Fuel costs per kilometer traveled can be reduced by up to 30% compared to those for a gasoline engine and up to 8% compared to those for a diesel engine.

  1. Propane-butane is NOT coal gas or natural gas.

There is some confusion about what coal seam gas (CSG) is. CSG is not LPG. While CSG may contain a range of gases, a large proportion of it (95% to 97%) is pure methane. Propane-butane is not methane. LPG is composed of propane and butane, while natural gas contains mainly methane and ethane. This is why propane-butane has a higher calorific value than natural gas.

  1. Propane-butane is extracted, not produced.

Propane-butane is obtained during oil refining. It is gaseous at normal temperatures and atmospheric pressure, and is supplied liquefied under pressure (at a pressure of 8 atmospheres (at a temperature of 20-25 °C) in special cylinders or tanks.

Thanks to its advantages, propane-butane is the preferred method of heating in millions of households a7> around the world and the most environmentally friendly way to travel with motorized vehicles. Find out how to take advantage of its benefits and you – contact us at tel.: 0700 20 204.
