It seems that anti-epidemic measures will remain in place for a long time to come, and more and more employers will allow their staff to work from home. And while for some, performing their job remotely does not affect their productivity, for others who are used to working in an office, the new situation may prove difficult and stressful.

For the latter, we offer some valuable advice that will improve productivity from home.

  1. Set strict working hours for yourself

When you work in an office, going home is a signal that the working day is over. When working from home, you need to stick to certain hours. This will help you structure your tasks better and show your colleagues that you are not available 24/7.

  1. Set clear goals for yourself to accomplish during working hours.

It is not enough to simply note your current tasks; you must set goals for what you will accomplish during the hours you devote to work. The speed and successful completion of your goals, whether short-term, medium-term, or long-term, will indicate to your employer whether it is more appropriate for you to work in an office or remotely.

  1. Find a way to reduce communication with other people in your home (during working hours 🙂)

Complying with this condition, especially if you are surrounded by small children, sounds incredibly difficult. But if you are strict about following the new rules at home, over time those around you will learn to provide you with peace and quiet while you work from home. Both adults and children need to know clearly when it is time for fun and when it is time to perform serious tasks.

  1. Limit your access to things that distract you from your work

Interruptions caused by those around us are not the only form of distraction that home workers face. We all spend time on social media, watch television, or find other activities to do, just so we don’t have to finish our work. To avoid wasting your time, you need exceptional self-discipline. Turn off the TV, log out of Facebook, and focus on achieving your goals.

  1. Create a comfortable and functional working environment

A home office in a separate room is ideal, but this is not always possible. Wherever you work, whether it’s a corner of the dining room or bedroom, it should be fully equipped for the purpose. It is inefficient to “rebuild” your workspace every day. Choose a place that is functional and where you are least likely to be interrupted.
