The European LPG Association (Liquid Gas Europe), jointly with the World LPG Association (World LPG Association), published a report on policies promoting the use of autogas in 2018.

The report provides information about the actions taken by the governments around the world to a9> governments around the world, to promote the use of propane-butane as a18> fuel and analyzes the results of their use.

The study focuses on local regulations and covers 25 of the largest autogas markets, 15 of which are located in Europe. In addition to the UK, France, Germany, Spain, and other European countries, Bulgaria is also included in the report, noting that demand for autogas in our market is growing. Since the 1990s, the number of vehicles powered by propane-butane has increased by more than 50%, reaching 405,000 in 2017. The main measures taken by the Bulgarian government to encourage the use of autogas are related to the lower excise duty on propane-butane compared to other fuels, the report also notes.

The basis for monitoring the development of markets and the applicable legal regulations, the report indicates and which are the most effective practices and why they a20> should be applied in the future.

Autogas is the best alternative to other fuels in the transport sector worldwide. The main reason why governments encourage the use of propane-butane is the significantly lower emissions produced when using it compared to gasoline and diesel. The report shows that the most effective policies for promoting the use of autogas are those in which propane-butane is competitively priced and proves to be more cost-effective for consumers than other fuels.
