A number of European industries, including fuel and vehicle suppliers, vehicle manufacturers, retailers, service providers, and transport operators, welcome the revision of the CO2 Regulation for heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs) and support the decarbonization potential of sustainable and renewable fuels in a joint letter.

The industry believes that recognizing all ways to reduce harmful emissions is crucial for the transition to green vehicles and the decarbonization of the transport sector. The signatories recommend that the CO2 regulation for heavy-duty vehicles take into account sustainable and renewable fuels such as LPG, which would be in line with the objectives of the Green Deal and accelerate the decarbonisation of the sector.

We publish part of the open letter from the industries:

Heavy-duty transport is a vital sector for the functioning of the internal market and an appropriate regulatory framework for the development of environmentally friendly vehicles using different technologies and fuels. Decarbonization is a major challenge, and all means of achieving it that can have a rapid impact must be used.

Sustainable and renewable fuels can accelerate the process and contribute to achieving the Fit for 55 and full decarbonization targets in road transport.
