Autogas is the most widely used alternative to conventional petroleum fuels, gasoline and diesel. Today a number of countries, among which and Bulgaria, have well developed market for autogas. Over the last few years global consumption of propane-butane has been a30> increasing at a rapid pace.
According to data from the World LPG Association (World LPG Association), autogas is used by over 15 million vehicles in Europe, where there is an established infrastructure of approximately 46,000 stations offering propane-butane. The Old Continent has many years of experience in introducing autogas as a primary fuel for transport, thanks to an early network of suppliers and manufacturers, as well as service and installation systems for LPG-powered vehicles.
Around 6 million vehicles use autogas throughout the Asia-Pacific region. They are served by nearly 10,000 commercial outlets. In Japan and South Korea, for example, most taxis run on propane-butane, improving air quality in cities.
Over 200,000 drivers have chosen propane-butane as their fuel in North America, and the market continues to grow at a rapid pace. LPG is used mainly in motorized vehicles, ranging from school buses, city transportation to airplanes, performing commercial flights.
The structures of the vehicle fleets of transport vehicles powered by propane-butane are a8> vary in individual countries, which is due mainly to differences in government policies for promoting the use of LPG.
